Showering With a Viridian

Prior to your shower, the desired water temperature has been set on Viridian’s Control Panel. The selected temperature will be displayed on the LED screen for several minutes.

When you turn on your shower’s hot water, cold water instantly enters the Viridian through the incoming water supply line. The incoming Water Flow Sensor instantly and continuously detects and measures the water flow and sends the precise water flow rate to the Smart Control Board.

The incoming Water Temperature Sensor instantly and continuously determines the water’s temperature and sends the info to the Smart Control Board.

Having received the water’s flow rate and temperature, and already knowing the desired output temperature, the Smart Control Board sends the exact amount of power required to the elements in the four Jalix™ heat tubes proportionately.

As the water flows over the 24 linear feet of low wattage density elements, the indented spiral pattern in the stainless steel heat tubes repeatedly forces the water over and around the hot elements.

As the water leaves the Viridian en route to your shower, the outgoing Water Temp Sensor also determines its temperature and sends it to the Smart Control Board. If the temperature is correct, all is well and the process continues. If the outgoing water temperature is not within 1.5 degrees of the temperature selected, the Smart Control Board sends the necessary power changes to the elements.

While you’re showering, if the water flow rate increases, e.g., a 2nd shower, washing machine, etc., the Water Flow Sensor instantly notifies the Smart Control Board, which provides more power to the elements to maintain the predetermined temperature for all uses. Each person controls the hot/cold water temperature mix in the shower—same as always.

As the water is flowing, the Over-Temp Safety Sensor continuously measures the outgoing water temperature and will instantly stop the power, if a preset safe temperature is exceeded. The Control Board also monitors for any rapid heat changes between the two temperature sensors and if anything out of the norm is detected, power to the elements will instantly stop.

Although you could shower for days with your new Viridian and never run out of hot water, all hot showers must come to an end. When the hot water is turned off, the Water Flow Sensor stops and notifies the Smart Control Board, which instantly stops sending all power to the elements. The system automatically goes into a “wait” mode (using virtually zero power) and awaits all other needs for hot water.
